On the band site we're putting up Goo Goo Cluster playlists, about once a month.

Obviously I'm not a blogger - no time.

And I just bought about 15 new records, so I'm not even listening from A-Z anymore... I got up to about Duke Ellington, I think.
So I guess I'll keep this up as a historical record of my non-bloggerness and maybe I'll write about a CD from time to time.

Oh, among those 15, two of my faves are:
"Decoration Day" by the Drive-By Truckers (A coupla free mp3s are on http://www.drivebytruckers.com/soundbites.htm.)
"Portrait of a Legend: Sam Cooke" (Watch out for the SACD version, though. My sister's DVD player and my computer couldn't read the CD layer.)

Dorsey, Lee
On to one of my favorite singers, Lee Dorsey. His voice is great, like a smile, according to a quote attributed to his producer and the author of his hits, Allen Toussaint. (Their work prefigures the great solo records by Toussaint later on -- but that'll be in the Ts... I could very well have filed Lee's records under Toussaint...)

Devo and my band, Goo Goo Cluster, have covered "Working in a Coal Mine," as have the Judds, apparently.

Web trivia: VH1 has got their picture of Lee mixed up with that of Bobby Marchan (who sang at Stax for a period and was also a female impersonator).

I'm listening to my two compilations with slightly different track listings. Both were issued by Charly Records, and one is called "Can You Hear Me."

There's not a wealth of stuff about Lee on the Web.

* The strangest is a song-by-song listing -- with comments like, "This fast song features a tambourine" -- of a compilation called Wheeling and Dealing. It's from Collins Crapo's homepage (sic) -- I don't know whether he thinks his page is "crap" (and has a problem with punctuation) or whether his name is really Crapo...

Well here's my first blog.

I'm currently listening to all my records from A-Z. Started in January, just finished Czerkinksky and am now on the Delphonics.

Still buying the occasional disc, though. Lastest ones are De Stijl and Never trust a guy who after having been a punk, is now playing electro
